Pool care on the island

For oceanfront condos and associations, see our condo and HOA pool service in Key Biscayne.

Key Biscayne is a barrier island with Biscayne Bay on one side and the Atlantic on the other, and almost every pool here lives in salt air. Salt settles on decks, screens and equipment pads, and it wears ladders, rails, light rings, heater parts and pump fittings faster than on the mainland. Routine service on the island includes a look at metal parts and equipment so corrosion gets caught early.

The island has three main kinds of pools. West of Crandon Boulevard, in the Village's single-family neighborhoods and on the canal streets near Harbor Drive, most homes have private backyard pools, many surrounded by palms, sea grapes and dense tropical planting that drop leaves and fronds all year. Along the ocean, the condo buildings have large shared pools with heavier use and Miami-Dade health department rules. In between are townhomes and villas with smaller pools and spas.

Wind is a constant here. Breezes off the water push sand, leaves and fine debris into pools and speed up evaporation, so water levels and chemistry move faster than on a sheltered inland lot. Full sun on open decks also burns off chlorine quickly in summer. Every visit includes a full water test and rebalance, and salt pools get regular salt-cell checks.

Many owners spend part of the year away. We keep the same weekly schedule whether you're on the island or not, and let you or your property manager know if something needs attention.

Hurricane season matters on an island. Before a storm we can help with the pool side of your preparation, and afterward we schedule clean-up visits within our normal 7am–7pm hours once the causeway is open.
